POWDER MAGAZINE
Background
The goal was to create an interesting, unique brand for a magazine company, and within the spreads create a feature opener to draw customers in. The chief objective was to create a cohesive typographic system that balances readability with aesthetic appeal, while aligning with the magazine's tone, audience, and content focus.
Outcome
For this typography project, I focused on designing a winter sports magazine centered around a compelling interview with a professional skier. The visual direction embraces a clean and open layout, using bright, energetic colors to reflect the thrill and dynamism of winter sports. Wave patterns were incorporated throughout the design to evoke the fluid motion and freedom of skiing, while halftone mountain graphics serve as a subtle tribute to the natural landscapes where these sports take place. A sans serif type hierarchy was carefully chosen to create a modern, approachable, and engaging reading experience—balancing clarity with a playful edge. The overall result is a visually cohesive and energetic publication that captures the spirit of winter sports through thoughtful typographic and graphic choices.
